Is it time for your child to start wearing deodorant?
Are you wondering, is there a difference between a deodorant and an antiperspirant? Well yes there is, and when you know the ins and outs, choosing one that works for you is easy.
Antiperspirants typically contain aluminium, these aluminium compounds work by forming a plug in the sweat duct, preventing perspiration escaping, like the body is made to. Not to mention our skin absorbs these aluminium compounds….
So it pretty much clogs your pores to stop the fluid our bodies are trying very hard to expel, keeping it inside our bodies. Doesn’t sound very appealing does it….
Research on the topic is endless and continuing, some say it causes horrible diseases, particularly in women, others say it doesn’t and plenty can’t be sure either way. I know I don’t want to take any risks.
A great natural deodorant works by preventing the odour causing bacteria on the skin, while allowing it to breath and expel what it needs to. It is comfortable to wear, keeps you smelling amazing, helps with wetness and it 100% free from harmful chemicals.
When is it the right time to start thinking about personal hygiene?
I wish my children stayed baby’s forever, but as you probably know, kids grow up way too fast. In the blink of an eye, they’re starting school, learning how to ride a bike, and before you know it, they’re a young teenager - planning on taking driving lessons....Eeeeekkk!
Every child is different, and their body changes happen at different times. From my experience many boys and girls experience body changes as early as seven years old.
Before any underarm hair develops, you may notice a distinct odour coming from your child.... That's right, good old B.O! Time to sit down and have a chat about body changes, hopefully not as awkward as you think.
Take a deep breath.. it's ok, I start by explaining that this is all part of growing up and explain some of the other body changes on their way. Sometimes further changes are still a fair way off, other times they are just around the corner. I find that talking about my own personal experiences helps put them at ease.
Healthy habits come in many different forms. Healthy eating, healthy relationships. healthy lifestyle, healthy body image and of course, healthy personal and skin care.
There are some things to consider when selecting skincare products for your child.
First of all, please understand what chemicals are contained in some products rather than just grabbing whatever you find on the shelf. Our skin is our largest organ and absorbs everything we put on it, like it or not.
Select products that give you peace of mind that your child is using the very best, effective, gentle and age appropriate products on the market.
